JUSTIN LANCASTER

(saxophonist)

Not long after launching his debut single “Without A Doubt,” saxophonist Justin Lancaster appeared on Billboard’s Most Added as well as the Smooth Jazz Top 100.

Honing his chops as a second-line band horn player early on, Justin developed his improvisation technique by soloing to eager listeners who demanded a certain musical energy during Mardi Gras season.

Interweaving those experiences with that of his straight-ahead jazz upbringing and his love for contemporary jazz greats such as Grover Washington had a profound effect on him. It was then that he found his niche in combining smooth riffs with a subtle hint of funk and blues.

A native of Galveston Island, TX, Justin is part of the new era of contemporary jazz. Drawing from multiple genres for inspiration, including pop, R&B, hip-hop, bebop and house, the saxophonist continually finds a sound that is familiar, yet very different.

On the heels of his second single, “All In,” Justin continues to explore and push the boundaries of new, contemporary jazz.

Stay tuned for the upcoming full-length album – – Nightcap.
